Life

It is a crazy time in our lives. We thought, “If we can just get through the wedding phase, then our lives will slow down and we can breathe.” As we got ready to go to sleep last night we both talked about how exhausted we were and then how early it was! We’re getting old! ; )

Between our relationship with each other (and adjusting to married life), our jobs, church, family and friends, and also planning for our big move to Thailand (and the support raising that goes with that) – we are busy! It is interesting trying to juggle so many things, and it is tempting to try and plan out every detail and think about how we can get it all done. God is still having to remind me that I cannot do it. I will find myself tired and worn out before ever stepping on a plane if I continue to try and make things happen in my own strength. Pastor Ronnie shared a verse tonight that the Lord has continued to whisper to me my whole life:

Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

We have to continually recognize that we can do nothing without Him. His power works best in our weakness! That’s crazy. It is my natural inclination to try and be strong, but that isn’t where God wants me. In all actuality, I am very weak (and that’s a good thing!). God gets more glory and His power is made perfect when I submit to Him in my weakness.

So here’s to living dependant on Jesus and not trying to get things done my way! What are you trying to hold onto and do by yourself today? Maybe it’s time for all of us to say “Help me Lord! I can’t do this!” – That’s the strongest thing we could ever do.
