The past week has been incredible! We have been able to spend so much time visiting with our Loy friends. [caption id="attachment_931" align="alignright" width="300"] Monks dedicating the house[/caption] Monday our one of the families moved into a new house they built and we were invited to come help them and celebrate. I didn't realize we were walking into a Buddhist ceremony dedicating the house and "blessing" the family. It was eye-opening to be around but also great as we were able to pray and celebrate with our friends. So many people from...

Family, Thailand / 04.03.2015

It has been WAY too long since our last blog post. Hopefully you received our Winter Update though. Let us know if you didn't get it and we'll be sure to send it to you! We hit the ground running in 2015 and haven't stopped! January I went to Myanmar and then to a 2 week conference with YWAM. It was so encouraging to hear from YWAM's founders about the DNA of our mission. I was reminded about the importance of hearing God's voice and then obeying what He...

Bar Ministry, Thailand / 13.12.2014

Two weeks ago, Stephen’s mom and dad came to visit us here in Thailand!  My beautiful mother-in-law, Krystal, was able to come on bar outreach with Julie, Aum and myself.  I was so glad she could experience this ministry and this part of my life here in Thailand.  This is what I am most passionate about here, but it is often quite difficult to describe the situation of the women and the desperate need for the Kingdom of light to come to the bars.  I asked Krystal if...

Bar Ministry, Thailand / 13.11.2014

In the end of September, I had coffee with Brandon, a friend and leader, and he asked me if there was anything I wanted to be involved with that I wasn’t yet doing.  I thought back to my initial visit to Thailand and my first experience going on outreach in the red light district of Bangkok.  I thought of the women in the bars and brothels, each with her own story, her own dreams and aspirations.  This is what I wanted to be involved with.  I shared with...

We absolutely love the Loy children we have in our Kids Club every Saturday! We also want to make a point to show their parents and families that they are just as loved as their kids. We aren't able to do as much with the kids’ parents because of the extreme work schedules they all have, so we have been wanting to throw a party or do something special. A few weeks ago we had a DTS team from England working with us. It was refreshing for all of...

This week we are hosting a medical training here at our team house/base.  Dr. Simon, a British missionary, and his family travelled here from Cambodia. This is so exciting as he is teaching over 20 leaders who can take basic medical knowledge into their villages and help prevent so many sicknesses with simple diagnosis and treatments.  As they do this, they will also be able to share the Gospel with the people they see and help. In addition to the training, we also went into some of the communities and...

We haven't written very frequently but starting now we are planning to write more regularly. I also figured out the email updates - so you should get an email when we post a new blog. If you don’t want that frequent of updates feel free to unsubscribe (you will still get the quarterly Updates). If you don’t get the blog updates and would like them, then let us know! We have officially been here for over 2 months! On one hand it seems like we have been here forever...

Southeast Asia, Thailand / 13.07.2014

Every Saturday morning, we pull into the parking lot of the Bible College here in Mae Sai, and every Saturday morning we are greeted in that parking lot by smiling, laughing and jumping Loy children.  They travel from neighborhoods around the area – some as far as two to three miles away.  We quickly unload the truck: craft boxes, Bible storybook, soccer ball, guitar, and mats to lay on the ground.  Some of the boys, smiling, grab the pump from the back of the truck and take it...

So we have officially been in Mae Sai for 2 weeks! Crazy! Our Brazilian teammates left for Brazil for surgery within our first week here. It stinks to see them go, but was also excited to get to pray with them about what God might have for them while they are home. We just have to wait a few months and they will be back though (Angel is itching to speak more Portuguese with them)! We are still staying at Brandon and Aum's as we get the last few...
